How Long Should You Stay In Japan

The answer to, how long should you stay in Japan, is that you should stay in Japan as long as you can.

There’s a lot to see and unfortunately you can’t see it all. If you’re flying from America to Japan, keep in mind that with layovers and travel to and from the airport, you’ll be in transit door-to-door for almost 24 continuous hours.

In addition, Japan is 13 hours ahead of the east coast. Adrenaline will kick in when you first land and behold the awesome land, but jet lag will quickly catch up. Although my family and I never take the time to sleep it off for a couple of days first, it takes a good 2 days for your body to start adjusting to the time change and to get your bearings straight.

And with my diabetes, sometimes I can be a bit wonky at times for an entire week. Keeping in mind 2 solid days of jet lag when you arrive, and an entire 24 hours to get there and back, I’d recommend staying in Japan for at least two weeks.

My wife, who is actually a Japanese native, prefers to stay for a month at a time, but as I keep a busy schedule, both while working and vacationing, when I asked myself this last trip to Japan, how long should you stay in Japan, I opted to stay only 2 weeks during my last Japan vacation.
